An interview with Yosi Fischer of F and H Office Systems (printer and copier repair in Burbank)
Yosi, how did you get to where you are today running your own business?Arriving fresh off the boat (kidding, came via plane and with a work permit ) back in 1984 I became employed immediately and started working, but deep down I always wanted to have something of my own where I could provide a service and get paid for it scaled to my efforts.
Unfortunately, I kept trudging along the usual and endless job “hopping”- delivery driver for a print shop (this was my first job, 2 days after my arrival to LA…I got lost a lot!), ice-cream maker, audio/video sales, currency broker, graphic designer (sounds cool but I didn’t know what I was doing), telephone systems sales and so forth. One day I stumbled upon the Green office supplies field…and fell in love with the whole concept of recycling, so I got a position where I traveled all over the world marketing USA based companies.
But there was something missing… I was just another peon in the machine. So finally after a disagreement with my last boss back in 2010 and with the advice of my wife and two good friends, we started f and h Office systems.
How does F and H Office Systems support the local community and environment?
I believe that the only way to become visible, credible and profitable is by stomping the asphalt and getting to know new clients, plus volunteering in causes that are good for the environment. Recycling and e-waste collections are some of the venues I offer to help with my knowledge, and so far we have helped organize events for Family Promise, Unity Church, Temple Beth Emet and the Rotary club of the San Fernando Valley.
What does your business do differently that sets you apart?
The way we differentiate our business from others is that we go about doing business the way our clients want and become their consultants for everything related to their business and their interest.
Lately we added compostable/biodegradable products for the break room at one of our clients that works with the film industry in Burbank and everything must be green, from the trash bags all the way to the water cups- so we added the line to please them!
Thanks Yosi for letting us know a little bit more about you and your business. Best of luck to you in the future!
